Talking to your parent about it.
Many parents hear “safety assessment” as “you can’t cope.” It helps to be clear about what this is. The report describes the home, not the person. No one tests your parent, and the report never offers a view on whether they should stay in their home.
It also helps that nobody arrives to sell anything. Your parent can hear the findings, keep the report, and decide what happens and when. A family member or your parent shows us how the home is really used, and that is the whole visit.
