Fees

Priced by the size of the home.

A larger home takes longer to walk and produces more findings, so the fee follows floor area rather than a clock. You see the exact price before you commit to anything, when you book online or on your free call.

Home typeFeeTypical visit length
Condo or apartment$395About 1.5 hours

The price written into your agreement is a fixed price, not an estimate. It never goes up unless you agree to a change in writing first.

Included

What the fee covers.

The visit

A walk through every room you make available, inside and out. Photographs, laser measurements on every dimensional finding, and a conversation with you, the occupant or the family about how the home is used day to day.

The written report

Delivered by email as a PDF within three business days. Every finding carries a priority, a specific recommended fix, a Calgary price and, where relevant, a reference to the standard it draws on.

The plan and hiring a contractor

A phased plan grouped by what to do now, within three months, and within six to twelve months. A Calgary price for every fix, from last month’s market research, and a checklist for hiring any contractor.

The follow-up call

Up to 30 minutes by phone or video, any time within 60 days of delivery, to walk through the report and answer whatever comes up once the family has read it.

Booking and payment

How booking works.

Book online. Choose a time, enter the details the agreement needs, sign it on screen and pay by card. Your signed agreement, receipt and a link to manage your booking arrive by email straight away, and Carl calls within one business day.

Or start with a free call.

  1. You request a free call. We call back within one business day and talk through the situation.
  2. If an assessment makes sense, we email you the service agreement to sign online.
  3. Payment is due in full when you book, by Interac e-Transfer or by card through Stripe, your choice. Cash and cheques are not accepted.
  4. Once the agreement and payment are both in, we confirm your visit date and time by email.

Nothing is billed after the visit. The booking is not confirmed until payment clears.

Cancelling or rescheduling

WhenWhat happens
24 hours or more before the visitCancel or reschedule at no charge. Everything paid is refunded within 15 days. No reason needed.
Less than 24 hours before, or nobody home on arrivalYou can move the visit once to a new date at no charge. If you cancel instead, or nobody is home on arrival, 10% of the assessment fee is kept, plus GST on that fee — for example $49.50 on a $495 visit — and the rest refunded within 15 days.
No fee at allA medical emergency or hospital stay; severe weather or anything else beyond anyone's control; a visit booked less than 24 hours ahead.
If we cancel or miss a visitYou choose: a new date within five business days, or a full refund.
Travel outside the standard area

Homes within 50 km of the Calgary city centre carry no travel charge. Beyond that, a travel surcharge applies and is shown in your agreement before you sign, never added afterwards. See service areas.

These terms summarise the Service Agreement you sign before the visit. Where this page and the signed agreement differ, the signed agreement governs. Full wording: Terms of Service.

A finished written home safety report handed to a client

What you receive

One report, three business days after the visit.

Delivered by email as a PDF. Roughly forty pages for a typical home, structured so the one-page summary at the front works on its own for the family member who will not read the rest.

Comparison

What the fee buys that a free checklist does not.

Free home safety checklists are widely available and worth using. They are not the same product. A checklist asks whether a hazard is present. An assessment measures it, prices the fix, ranks it against everything else in the home, and identifies the trade each fix needs.
