What we check at doors.
Every finding is photographed and, where it has a dimension, laser-measured against CSA B652 reference points.
- Round knobs that are hard to grip and turn, especially with arthritis or wet hands.
- The clear width of each doorway, measured, for a walker or wheelchair now or later.
- Raised thresholds and sills that become a trip or a barrier. The reference calls for 13 mm or less.
- Heavy doors and strong door closers.
- Locks and deadbolts that are hard to turn, and whether someone could get in quickly in an emergency.
- Whether the front door can be answered safely: a viewer or window at a usable height.
Fixes the report often recommends.
These are examples, not a package. The report recommends only what this home needs, and says when something can wait.
Lever handles
Replace round knobs so a door opens with a push of the hand.
Offset hinges
Can widen a doorway without moving the frame.
Threshold ramps
Take the step out of a raised sill.
Adjusting door closers
Often a no-cost fix.
How each fix is priced.
Every fix in the report gets its own Calgary price from our cost index: the typical time the job takes, published trade rates, and current prices for mid-range parts. It is a planning figure, not a quote, so you know what a fair quote looks like before you call anyone.
You choose who does the work: any contractor, a handy family member, or nobody yet. The report ranks the fixes so the highest-value ones come first.

Nothing to sell you after the visit.
Free assessments are usually paid for by the renovation or equipment sold afterward. We sell no products or renovations and take no contractor fees, so every recommendation is about what makes the home safer, including what you can skip.
The rest of the home.
The visit covers every room, not just this one: 143 checks in 12 categories.
